Rice P. Scobee, a native of Clark County, KY., was born June 23, 1847, and is a son of Robert and Lucy (Pendleton) Scobee. Robert Scobee, also a native of Clark County, was a farmer by occupation, a popular citizen in the community in which he lived, and died in April 1882, a son of Robert Scobee, who was a farmer, distiller and miller. John E. Groves is the great-great-grandfather of my father, Harold W. Groves His sons were George Groves and Samuel Groves, grandfathers of William Groves whose children married their first cousins. Prince William County, Virginia, 1787, was the birthplace of John E. Groves. The record of his death in Grant County lists his parents as Samuel and Mary Groves. His father appears to have been a Lieutenant in the Revolutionary War under Captain James Smith but he never lived to file for his pension. Biography of Rezin A. Scobee

Rezin A. Scobee, a prominent and successful farmer and stock-raiser of Clark County, KY., was born in that county, September 9, 1839, and is a son of Robert and Emily (Pendleton) Scobee. He was educated in the common schools, and with the exception of five years spent in Montgomery County, has been engaged in farming and stock-raising in his native county. He was formerly a stock-trader, shipping cattle and driving mules South. He still deals in stock to some extent. October 31, 1861, he married Miss Sarah R. King, of Clark County, daughter of John P. and Mary (Taul) King.
