Marvin L. Allen Jr. and Mary Alice Wilkins

Marvin L. Allen Jr. was born in Rock Haven, Kentucky on June 7, 1926. He is a son of Marvin L. Allen Sr. and Agnes (Board) Allen. On March 31, 1948, he married Mary Alice Wilkins. She was born on March 11, 1931 in Rock Haven, Kentucky and was a daughter of Wesley C. Wilkins and Evelyn Lula (Choate) Wilkins.

After returning from service in the U.S. Marine Corps, during World War II, Marvin was employed in the gas department of Louisville Gas and Electric Company. Marvin retired in June 1986 after being employed by the company for 40 years. Also during this time, he owned and operated a farm in the Rock Haven community. He also held a Kentucky real estate license.

Marvin and Mary Alice are members of the Rock Haven Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge, and Eastern Star. They developed several tracts of land known as Country Lane Estates, located on Allen Road.

Marvin and Mary Alice have four children. Marvin Wessley, born December 28, 1948, is married to Linda L. (Farmer) Allen. They live on Allen Road and have two daughters, Melissa Wynn, born May 24, 1968, and Michelle Whitney, born December 19, 1973; on September 2, 1989, Melissa married Charles Joseph Redmon at Rock Haven Baptist Church. Marvin is employed at Louisville Gas and Electric Company.

Alice Sharon Allen is employed in the legal department of Indianapolis Life Insurance Company in Indianapolis, Indiana. Sharon and her three brothers are graduates of Meade County High School. Sharon also attended Western Kentucky University. Sharon has three children, Chris, Mark, and Vanessa Evans by Martin Evans and is now married to William Lay.

Stephen W. Allen is employed in Toledo, Ohio as a heating and air conditioning technician. He has two children, Stephen K. and Amber Mare, by Carolyn Barr but now they are divorced.

Clifford K. is a car salesman in Louisville, KY. Clifford attended Western Kentucky University and also served four years in the United States Navy. While serving, he earned a letter of commendation and two service medals during the Grenada and Libyan action. He also holds a Kentucky real estate license.
